01 / THE IDEA

Why this project exists.

Kerala Sky Runner brings pilot and passenger experiences into one Kerala-inspired aviation world. The idea is to make the whole journey interesting: exploring the terminal, boarding a flight and learning to fly.

02 / MY CONTRIBUTION

My part in the process.

I developed the project direction, planned the airport and travel experiences, and iterated with AI-assisted development using supplied 3D assets. Playtesting helped me refine priorities around camera behaviour, navigation, loading and the feel of takeoff and landing.

This is a creative, educational game project. The public release and its latest description are available on the itch.io page.

03 / THE EXPERIENCE

What it brings together.

Pilot and passenger journeys

The published Living World page presents flying and passenger travel within one continuous single-player experience.

Seven airport regions

The world draws from airport regions in and around Kerala, including Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Kozhikode and Kannur.

Aircraft systems

The project explores thrust, lift, drag, steering, flaps, landing gear and flight instruments across three aircraft.

Learn through travel

The published experience includes optional learning activities about tickets, flight times, baggage and aviation.

04 / BUILD NOTES

The difficult parts.

A flight simulation needs controls, scenery and camera movement to agree. Testing revealed confusing turns, camera focus problems, slow airport loading and occasional resume issues.

The work progressed through Pilot Academy, Boarding Edition and Living World builds. Feedback focused on clearer navigation, more consistent player scale and smoother airport transitions, while keeping both pilot and passenger experiences in view.

05 / WHAT I LEARNED

Lessons for the next build.

  • Guidance should explain what to do at the moment the player needs it.
  • A readable camera and clear direction cues are essential parts of the controls.
  • Large 3D assets make loading and performance part of the design process from the beginning.

06 / STILL EXPLORING

Where it goes next.

Future priorities include refining guided flight learning, cockpit interaction, airport operations and performance. Feature quality continues to evolve through playtesting.

KEEP EXPLORING
